Biography
Racquel Keller is an American artist based in Maryland, on the east coast of the United States of America. Racquel graduated from The American University with a degree in Graphic Design, with a concentration in Fine Arts, and also holds a Certificate of Leadership Coaching from Georgetown University.
Racquel is a multidisciplinary artist inspired by a love of fairy tales and vintage objects. She is a storyteller whose work— primarily mixed media collage and assemblage—focuses on how fairy tales and myths capture our imaginations and set expectations for gender roles in our society. Racquel recently spent a month in France as a returning Artist-in-Residence at Chateau d’Orquevaux, where she explored the male gaze in historical paintings, reconstructing each work to reframe and reclaim the female narrative. During 2018-2021 she was an Artist-in-Residence with the City of Greenbelt, Maryland, and attended the SnowFarm, The New England Craft Program Residency in the fall of 2022. She has been elected to attend the CAYO Residency on Eleuthera Island, Bahamas at a future date.
A two-time recipient of The Denis Diderot A-i-R Grant, she actively exhibits her work and it can be found in numerous private collections throughout the US as well as internationally.
